NFL Week 13 fantasy picks – Five players to add to your NFL fantasy lineup this Sunday

As everyone prepares for a feast of Thanksgiving football, attention turns to Sunday’s slimmer slate as we take you through our week 13 fantasy picks.

Our week 12 captain pick proved to be a worthy investment as Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 219 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-27 overtime win against the New York Giants.

Gibbs’ quarterback, Jared Goff, was the quarterback pick in week 12, and the 31-year-old passed for 279 yards and two touchdowns, with just one interception coming up as the only blotch on his record, returning 18.16 fantasy points.

It was a quieter Sunday for our running back pick, TreVeyon Henderson, who scored only 11.1 fantasy points, totalling just 81 yards from scrimmage all game for the New England Patriots.

Henderson’s Patriots teammate Hunter Henry was our tight end pick, and the 30-year-old led all tight ends for points scoring in fantasy last week, tallying 24.5 points thanks to a 115-yard and one touchdown performance against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Finally, our wider receiver pick also garnered a big return, with AJ Brown coming in as the fifth-highest-ranked fantasy receiver in week 12, catching one touchdown and notching up 110 yards in the Philadelphia Eagles’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Captain – De’Von Achane – Miami Dolphins vs New Orleans Saints, 9000

With six games taking place outside of the 6 pm and 9:05/25 pm slates in week 13, there is slim pickings for electric offensive talent this week.

The most obvious home run pick of the week comes in an otherwise dismal affair as De’Von Achane promises to shine for the 4-7 Miami Dolphins as they welcome the 2-9 New Orleans Saints.

Achane is the fourth-highest scoring running back in fantasy this season, despite the Dolphins’ offensive woes, coming in behind only Gibbs, Jonathan Taylor and Christian McCaffrey.

The Saints are a middling rush defence, and a legitimate x-factor option like Achane should be able to put up good numbers at home on Sunday.

Quarterback – Cam Ward – Tennessee Titans vs Jacksonville Jaguars, 5000

Week 13 draws most of the NFL’s best fantasy quarterbacks up against strong defensive opposition, hence the slightly left-field pick here.

Cam Ward pieced together the best performance of his rookie season in week 12 against a strong Seattle Seahawks defence, and he won’t face quite as tough a challenge in week 13 against the Jaguars.

The Jaguars are in the top 10 in the NFL for passing yards allowed, and come into the top five for passing touchdowns given up so far this season.

If Ward can build on a promising showing in week 12 and the Jaguars’ defence continues their current performance levels, this could be a sneaky good pickup.

Running back – Travis Etienne Jr. – Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tennessee Titans, 6400

On the other side of Ward’s AFC South matchup with the Jaguars is Jacksonville’s running back Travis Etienne Jr., who will be on the hunt to continue his upward fantasy trajectory.

The Titans are the fifth-worst defence against opposition running backs in fantasy football this year, and Etienne will want to punish that weakness.

Etienne comes into the week as the 12th-ranked running back so far this year, but a big week in Tennessee could see the 26-year-old break into the top 10.

Since the Jaguars’ week eight bye, Etienne Jr. has topped 15 fantasy points every week, with his number steadily progressing up to an appealing 20.6 in week 12 against the Arizona Cardinals, something that will be worth keeping an eye on heading into this matchup.

Wide Receiver – Ladd McConkey – Las Vegas Raiders @ Los Angeles Chargers, 6000

Week 13 is light on the ground for premium wide receiver options, as the top three defences against wideouts in the league are all playing in primetime this week.

Digging a little deeper, one matchup that could yield promising results is Ladd McConkey against a Las Vegas Raiders defence that gives up the 10th-most fantasy points to receivers this season.

McConkey is the Chargers’ leading receiver and always comes up big in AFC West matchups for his team, with week 13 promising to deliver more of the same.

Jim Harbaugh’s side is coming out of their bye week after being humiliated by the Jaguars, so a boiceback game is in order, and we’re placing our trust in McConkey to lead that showing.

Tight End – Dawson Knox – Buffalo Bills @ Pittsburgh Steelers, 2200

Last week’s tight end selection provided the bargain of all our picks, with Henry putting up the leading numbers for his position in fantasy in week 12, and this Dawson Knox matchup could offer similar projections.

Dalton Kincaid didn’t practice during Wednesday’s practice with a hamstring injury, so Knox may be in line for a start against the fourth-worst defence against tight ends in fantasy this season so far.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have given up an average of 10.3 fantasy points to tight ends, and Knox may be the beneficiary of that on Sunday.

Despite being a low-scoring option so far this season, if Kincaid does continue to trend downwards with his injury designation, then it may be worth the risk on Knox.

Week 14 and 15: Rookie Standouts

Is it just me, or is the season getting better every week? This week had it all: high-stakes drama, questionable refereeing, the biggest comeback win in NFL history, and possibly the most mind-blowing finish to a game this season. Since I missed last week’s entry, here are three rookies that stood out in weeks 14 and 15.

Week 14

Brock Purdy, Quarterback – San Francisco 49ers

Purdy looked confident in the pocket as he finished 16 of 21 for 185 yards and two touchdowns with a quarterback rating of 134.0, all of this while starting opposite the greatest of all time.

Travon Walker, Edge – Jacksonville Jaguars

The number one pick in the draft finally regained that swagger as he ended his five-week sack drought with a dominant performance. Finishing with two hurries, one sack, and one fumble, he recorded a 91.6 PFF pass rush rating.

Isiah Pacheco, Running Back – Kansas City Chiefs

After delivering solid rushing performances this season, Pacheco has started to become a threat in the passing game. Finishing the game with 93 all-purpose yards, he also forced five missed tackles with his aggressive running style.

Kayvon Thibodeaux, Edge – New York Giants

Thibodeaux bet the house on himself this week with a bold statement in the lead up to the Giants’ 20-12 win over the Washington Commanders. When asked if he liked prime time, the rookie responded with bravado and swagger: “Prime time like me.”

He backed up that quote straight away by stuffing two runs on the Commanders first possession before getting another on their second. Despite being shown on the sidelines getting oxygen, nothing was slowing him down. However, at the start of the 2nd quarter, he charged past Washington lineman Charles Leno Jr. to bat the ball out of Taylor Heinicke’s hands, pick up the fumble, and rumble in for his first career touchdown. Kayvon finished the day with 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 1 touchdown, and 12 tackles (9 solo).

Tyler Allgeier, Running Back – Atlanta Falcons

This is probably an overdue appearance for the Falcons’ rookie running back. He’s quietly flown under the radar due to his split load with Cordale Patterson, but has made the most of his opportunities, picking up tough yards and first downs.

Despite a slow start this week, where he only had one carry in the first quarter, he quickly found his rhythm, and despite finishing on the losing side in the game against the New Orleans Saints, he managed to have a career day. Finishing with 139 yards from 17 carries, Allgeier tore up the Saints defence at a rate of 8.2 yards per carry, converting eight first downs and forcing six missed tackles, leading to 100 of his 139 yards coming after contact. He also converted a touchdown and a 2-point conversion. Allgeier now sits at 743 yards, only 280 yards behind the Falcons rookie rushing record set by William Andrews in 1979.

Jahan Dotson, Wide Receiver – Washington Commanders

In the last three weeks, Dotson has played the Giants twice either side of a well-deserved bye week, and on both occasions, the continued evolution of the chemistry between him and Taylor Heinicke has been in full flow, and as such, Dotson has been able to showcase his ability to make highlight reel catches.

The rookie out of Penn State eclipsed 100 yards for the first time in his career, with the majority of them coming after a 61-yard catch that almost sparked a late-game tying drive. With the Commanders backed up at their own 9-yard line, Heinicke uncorked a deep shot that Dotson managed to haul in despite impressive coverage by the Giants’ Jason Pinnock. Finishing the game with four receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown, Dotson took his touchdown total to six for the season, only two behind the Commanders rookie franchise record held by Charlie Brown.

Week 3: Rookie Standouts

Another week in the books, and there were plenty of candidates for this article as the NFL’s strange season continues with surprising victories, comebacks, and streaks being broken. Let’s take a look at three rookies who stood out amongst the pack:

Chris Olave, Wide Receiver – New Orleans Saints

Saints fans would probably struggle to find any positives in their team’s performance against the Carolina Panthers, but if you had to pick something, it would have been their rookie Wide Receiver’s performance.

Olave hauled in nine receptions off thirteen targets, a number that shows how quickly he’s established a rapport with Jamies Winton. He has now taken his total for the season to 17 receptions for 268 yards, which is enough to lead all rookie wide receivers. Though it is unlikely that he continues at this pace for the entire season, the Saints will be delighted that he has transferred his skills to the professional game so quickly.

Jalen Pitre, Safety – Houston Texans

Fourth-rounder Jalen Pitre missed interception in the Texans’ season opener against the Indianapolis Colts may have lit a fire inside the former Baylor standout that cannot be extinguished, and without his play in the loss against the Chicago Bears this past week, the scoreline could have been a lot uglier.

Pitre had a breakout game with key plays throughout this game. His first interception came in the first quarter as he was heading towards the ground. His second stopped a key drive for the Bears in the fourth quarter, and finally he added a sack to his stat line on the Bears’ next drive. Though his effort was ultimately unrewarded, the positive signs are there for the future.

Devin Lloyd, Linebacker – Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars have not shied away from putting their young team at the forefront of their plans, and one player that is thriving in Florida is Linebacker Devin Lloyd. Having displayed the sideline to sideline abilities that were highly touted in the lead up to the draft, Lloyd has taken to NFL life like a duck to water.

If you add his stats against the Los Angeles Chargers of 5 solo tackles, 3 passes defended, and an interception to Lloyd’s stat sheet, it is ludicrous. 24 tackles, a league-high six passes defended, two interceptions and a targeted passer rating of 28.2. Sheesh
